Prof. Panza visits China Pharmaceutical University in Nanjing.
Project meeting and presentation on BNCT - November 10-12, 2025
Prof. Panza visited China Pharmaceutical University and Neuboron in Nanjing last November 2025. The visit was an opportunity to take stock of the project and lay the foundations for future collaboration. The project partners are preparing an agreement for the exchange of students and researchers and to facilitate the continuation of scientific collaboration. The occasion was also used for a workshop open to students of China Pharmaceutical University in order to spread awareness of BNCT and to illustrate the bilateral MOST-MAECI project.
Prof. Panza opened the meeting with an overview of BNCT, then went on to discuss the results of the bilateral project. Prof. Xiaohong Zhang illustrated the progress made in biological testing at the cellular level. Dr. Jingjing Lin introduced the approach to new molecules for transporting boron to cancer cells. At the end of the meeting, the groups met to agree on an agreement to continue their collaboration after the end of the project.
Workshop on BNCT - July 16, 2025
UPO - Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the Italian-Chinese workshop on BNCT research and development will be held in Novara at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Eastern Piedmont. See here the program.
The event was well attended and provided an opportunity to raise awareness of neutron capture therapy.
Presentations were given by Chinese and Italian colleagues. Prof. Liu, CEO of the Neuboron Medical Group in Xiamen, the first center in China authorized to treat patients with BNCT, opened the day by describing Neuboron's experience.
Dr. Sandro Rossi, Director of CNAO (National Center for Oncological Hadrontherapy in Pavia), and his colleague, Dr. Jessica Franzetti, then took the floor to illustrate the project to install an accelerator at their facility, in order to begin clinical trials of BNCT in Italy. A second Italian presentation by Dr. Valerio Vercesi (INFN) illustrated the ANTHEM Project, which involves the installation of a second BNCT accelerator in Caserta. Dr. Min Cai of Neuboron and Prof. Zhenwei Yuan (CPU, Nanjing) described their work on the development of new boron carriers. On the Italian side, Dr. Vanessa Re and Dr. Salvatore Villani spoke on the same topic.
The first results of the Italian group's work were then presented at the 20th International Congress on Neutron Capture Therapy the following Tuesday by Dr. Imperio
